Although the basic functions of “timing belt” and “timing chain” are the same, their working principle is still different.
There are many rubber teeth on the inner side of the timing belt. The timing belt uses these rubber teeth to cooperate with the groove on the top of the corresponding rotating parts (camshaft, water pump, etc.), so that the engine crankshaft can pull other running parts and keep the driven parts running synchronously. The timing belt can be regarded as a soft gear.
